Joseph M. Spencer was visiting assistant professor of ancient scripture at Brigham Young University when this was written. He is the editor of the Journal of Book of Mormon Studies and the associate director of the Mormon Theology Seminar. He is the author of three books, most recently The Vision of All: Twenty-five Lectures on Isaiah in Nephi’s Record, published in 2016 by Greg Kofford Books.
