Carol Cornwall Madsen is an emeritus research historian with the Joseph Fielding Smith Institute for Church history at Brigham Young University. She also served as associate director of BYU's Women's Research Institute. She was educated at the University of Utah, receiving a BA in English literature and an MA and a PhD in American history.
