Jo Ann earned a master of arts degree in anthropology from Brigham Young University. She has taught as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Michigan in the Program on Studies in Religion and as an instructor at BYU in ancient scripture and honors. She is now a homemaker in Provo, Utah, married to David Rolph Seely. They are the parents of four children.
