Church organization was limited during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. While many Latter-day Saints deployed to Saudi Arabia and served in a wide variety of military, civilian, and contractor roles, the exact number of Church members who served in the theater during the conflict remains unknown. The Church operated primarily as several separate service member groups and individuals.
