Benjamin E. Park

Benjamin E. Park was a PhD student in history at the University of Cambridge when this was written with interests in the cultural, religious, and intellectual history of the eighteenth and nineteenth century Atlantic world, especially in the early American republic. His current research focuses on the intersections between local contexts, broader affiliations, and personal identities. In his PhD dissertation, written under the supervision of Michael O’Brien, he examines post-revolutionary Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina in an attempt to explore early American conceptions of nationalism and citizenship during the decades following independence, specifically how these conceptions differed according to locality, race, and gender.
