Rob Eaton grew up in Auburn, Washington, and served a mission in Germany. He received his bachelor’s degree in international relations from BYU, where he worked as a teaching and research assistant. After graduating in 1987 he taught political science for a year before heading to Stanford Law School, where he was named to the Order of the Coif and the Outstanding Speaker in Stanford’s Moot Court Competition. He was a litigator at a large Seattle firm for a year and a half before becoming associate general counsel at Regence BlueShield, the largest health insurer in Washington, where he was heavily involved in regulatory matters.

In 2001, Brother Eaton left the legal and corporate world to teach institute and seminary full-time. He joined the Religious Education faculty at BYU-Idaho in June of 2004. At BYU-Idaho he served on the Foundations Oversight Committee that overhauled General Education. For two years he led a team that created one of the new General Education courses, Global Hotspot: Pakistan at the Crossroads of Conflict. Since October 2009, he has served as associate academic vice president for academic development, overseeing online learning programs. Rob and his wife, Dianne, have four children. He’s the author of the four books for the Latter-day Saint audience.
