About The Editor
Richard E. Bennett, professor of Church history and doctrine at Brigham Young University since 1997 and former president of the Mormon History Association, has published several books and over sixty articles on a wide range of topics in Latter-day Saint history. His award-winning Mormons at the Missouri, 1846–1852 (University of Oklahoma) remains the definitive study of the Latter-day Saint experience at Winter Quarters (Nebraska), and his follow-up work, We’ll Find the Place: The Mormon Exodus, 1846-1848, is an equally comprehensive study of Brigham Young’s pioneering trek from Winter Quarters to the Salt Lake Valley. Born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, he was also chair of the Department of Archives and Special Collections at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg for twenty years. He and his wife, Patricia, have five children and several grandchildren.
