John L. Fowles received his BS and MA degrees from Brigham Young University and a PhD from the University of Missouri-Columbia in social foundations of education, with an emphasis in religious studies. He has taught in the Church Educational System for over thirty-six years and was an instructor at the Logan LDS Institute of Religion adjacent to Utah State University when this was written.
