Catherine H. Ellis is a fifth-generation Arizonan. Her ancestors first marched through southern Arizona with the Mormon Battalion and later returned in 1878 to settle in northern Arizona. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 1968 with a degree in biology and has contributed to many scientific articles. But her real commitment is to the history of rural Arizona.
