Tina Dyches was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, the third of four children of Richard and Charlene Taylor. She served an LDS mission to Bangkok, Thailand, which included welfare and educational service to Southeast Asian refugees. She graduated from Brigham Young University with her undergraduate degree, Utah State University with her master's degree, and Illinois State University with her PhD. She is married to David Dyches and they have one son.
