Anne H. Betteridge taught anthropology at Pahlavi University in Shiraz, Iran. She graduated magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke College, received her MA in anthropology from the University of Chicago. Additionally, Anne earned a PhD in anthropology from the University of Chicago with a dissertation topic on ziarat (pilgrimage) in an Iranian city. Professor Betteridge’s research was conducted in Shiraz, Iran, with the objective of understanding the nature of the relationship between man and God in Shi’i Islam.
