Steven C. Harper received the John Whitmer Historical Association’s Smith-Pettit Best Book Award for First Vision: Memory and Mormon Origins.

The John Whitmer Historical Association’s Whittemore Best Documentary History Book Award went to the Joseph Smith Papers Project team that produced and edited Documents, Volume 8: February–November 1841, which included editor Gerrit Dirkmaat, and Documents, Volume 9: December 1841–April 1842.

Michael A. Goodman, W. Justin Dyer, Mikel Cressman, Anjelica Jerez, Kelsey Johnson, Emily Purtschert, and Joseph Sheen received the Religion, Spirituality & Family Section Outstanding Paper Award at the 2020 National Council of Family Relations Conference for their study, “LGBTQ Adolescent Suicidality: Religious Salience and Family Flexibility.”
