
Sheree Maxwell Bench taught courses in writing, women’s studies, and Mormon women’s history at Utah Valley University when this was written. A former researcher and instructor with the Joseph Fielding Smith Institute and the BYU Women’s Research Institute, her research interests include the lives and writings of nineteenth-century Mormon women, including Lucinda Lee Dalton and Emmeline B. Wells. She is the coeditor of Discoveries: Two Centuries of Poems by Mormon Women and the forthcoming Emmeline B. Wells diaries.
