Louis B. Cardon received his BA from the University of Arizona and his MA and PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. He became a professor of history at BYU in 1960. While at BYU, he served as chairman of the faculty library committee and of the College of Social Sciences general education committee, and he directed BYU student tours in Europe. His research and writings focused on diplomatic and international history, British history, and French history. He was a research associate with the Social Science Foundation and a research fellow for the Hoover Institute on War, Revolution, and Peace at Stanford University. Doctor Cardon’s Church service included serving as a missionary, bishop, high councilor, high priest group leader, and temple missionary to the Swiss Temple. He and his wife, Robin, have three children and eleven grandchildren.
