A. Burt Horsley

A. Burt Horsley (1918–2008) was born and raised in Brigham City, Utah. He received his BA and MA degrees in political science and philosophy from Brigham Young University, and his PhD in philosophy at the University of Muenster in Germany. A professor emeritus from Brigham Young University, Professor Horsley spent many years researching material for his book Peter and the Popes. He was an observer at the Second Vatican Council in Rome in 1965 and went on sabbatical research at the Vatican Library. He was a member of many professional organizations, twice a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard University, and a member of the Commission for Study of the Swiss School System by appointment from the Ministry of Culture in North-Rhine-Westphalia. He was the author of two books and of numerous articles in church and professional magazines. He and his wife, Faye McBride Horsley, had five children. He passed away on July 14, 2008.
