Dr. Schneidau was a professor of English at the University of Arizona when this was written. He has linked his interest in literature to his fascination with Biblical studies and has long been recognized as a scholar on the literature of the Bible as well as a leading authority on Ezra Pound. He received his BA from Dartmouth and his PhD from Princeton. He has taught at Duke, SUNY/Buffalo, UC Santa Barbara, and Arizona. He is the author, mostly recently, of Sacred Discontent: The Bible and Western Tradition.
