Professor Mark E. Miller (PhD, University of Arizona, 2001) was teaching general United States history, the history of the American West, Native Americans, Utah, and modern World History at Southern Utah University when this was written. His published works include articles in the Journal of Arizona History, Journal of Mormon History, Religious Educator, and Journal of the Southwest, and a chapter in the forthcoming edition of the textbook Utah’s History. He has two books, Forgotten Tribes (University of Nebraska Press) and Claiming Cherokee (University of Oklahoma Press), published since 2004, and has been quoted in the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, and other newspapers in the last few years. He is married and has three children.
