An “x” in columns 1–8 indicates the following information:

4. Died between June 1849 and October 1852.

5. Crossed plains in 1849 in the George A. Smith Company.

6. Known to have stayed in St. Louis or Council Bluffs instead of going to the valley in 1849.

7. Left the Church at St. Louis; northwestern Missouri, or Council Bluffs.

8. A signer of “The Last Greeting,” a letter from the emigrants at Liverpool (see Appendix E).
