Benjamin Hyrum White was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Colorado Denver North Mission. He graduated from BYU with a degree in family science and his master's degree in religious education. Brother White is currently a seminary teacher. He and his wife, Keenan, have four children.
