Robert T. Smith is an assistant teaching professor in the Department of Church History and Doctrine at Brigham Young University. Previously he served for ten years as the managing director of the International Center for Law and Religion Studies at Brigham Young University. He is coauthor of the four-volume treatise Religious Organizations and the Law, 2nd ed., and has authored or coauthored numerous articles on religious freedom topics. He graduated magna cum laude from the J. Reuben Clark Law School, where he served as editor in chief of the BYU Law Review and was named a member of the Order of the Coif. He graduated magna cum laude with an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and has an accounting degree from BYU.
