Jeffrey S. Reber was an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at BYU when this was written, where he earned a doctoral degree in psychology with a dual emphasis in social psychology and theoretical/philosophical psychology. He has published numerous scholarly articles and book chapters on the relationship between religion and psychology and on interpersonal relationships. He is a licensed professional counselor and worked for several years as a part-time counselor with LDS Family Services. He is coeditor of a textbook on critical thinking about psychology, and he and Steven Moody are the authors of Are We Special? The Truth and the Lie About God's Chosen People.
