Louis C. Midgley is prominent Mormon apologist and retired professor of political science at Brigham Young University. Since his retirement, he has been closely involved with the Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies, writing many book reviews, articles, and book chapters defending The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from critics.

He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Utah and holds a PhD from Brown University. While a professor at BYU he taught a class on the Constitution and its ratification at least once a year. He also wrote about the works of Paul Tillich and Dostoevsky.

Professor Midgley contributed the article on theology to the Encyclopedia of Mormonism. In 2005 and 2006 Brother Midgley served as editor of the FARMS Review. Other topics he has studied included the abandonment of a belief in the Book of Mormon as an ancient document by members of the Community of Christ.

Following his retirement Brother Midgley and his wife served as Church Educational System missionaries in New Zealand.
