Stanley A. Johnson was a professor of ancient scripture at Brigham Young University when this was written. He received his doctor of education degree from BYU in 1979 in curriculum and instruction. He has served as a seminary and institute teacher and as a teacher trainer in the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City. He was principal of one of the largest seminaries in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Orem, Utah. Brother Johnson has served the Church as stake president, bishop, high counselor, and Sunday School teacher, and is on the Materials Evaluation Committee for the Church. He and his wife, Leslie, are the parents of six children.
