Danel W. Bachman was an American historian of Mormonism and an institute teacher in Logan, Utah when this was written. He received his BA from Brigham Young University, and an MA in history from Purdue University in 1975. Bachman has written articles on the Morrisites and the practice of polygamy in the LDS Church prior to Joseph Smith's death.
