BYU Church History Symposium
Throughout the history of the symposium, presenters have included notable General Authorities of the Church, historians, scholars, educators, and authors. This symposium was established to explore annually a topic of special interest in the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Historians and scholars meet to share the fruits of their research with each other and a general audience of interested Latter-day Saints and friends. Selected papers from previous symposia have been printed in books copublished by the Religious Studies Center and Deseret Book.
BYU Easter Conference
Each year, Religious Education at BYU and the Religious Studies Center sponsor the annual BYU Easter Conference. A General Authority emeritus or former Church leader is invited to give the keynote address. Accompanying the keynote speaker are other teachers, educators, scholars, authors, speakers, historians, or experts on Christ. All speakers talk about the Savior, his life, his mission, the Atonement, and his influence in our lives today. Attending the BYU Easter Conference is an ideal way to prepare to celebrate the Easter season.
Sidney B. Sperry Symposium
Every fall, BYU Religious Education hosts the annual Sidney B. Sperry Symposium. Since 1973, the Sidney B. Sperry Symposium at BYU has become one of the premier venues for Latter-day Saint religious study. Today's Sperry Symposium influences thousands through seminars and publications. The symposium originated to encourage faith-based religious Scholarship on Latter-day Saint topics. The published collection of papers from the Sperry Symposium represents the work of more than 275 authors producing more than 600 articles.
BYU Religious Education Student Symposium
Held annually in February on BYU campus, the Religious Education Student Symposium provides a forum for students to research, write, and present papers about religious subjects from a faithful perspective. All BYU undergraduate and graduate students attending the BYU-Provo winter semester are invited to submit a paper.
Other Conferences and Symposia
Over the years, BYU Religious Education and the Religious Studies Center have sponsored several faith-based academic conferences and symposia. The Religious Studies Center has published the proceedings of many of these and other similar conferences.
