Bush, Daniel B.-lived in Pike County from 1836–44 and was an active justice of the peace beginning in 1838 (Grantee Grantor Records, Pike Co., IL, 1836–45; Marriage records, Pike Co., IL).

Campbell, James Morrison-was appointed clerk of the circuit court by Governor John Reynolds in 1831. He also served as clerk of the county commissioners court (History of McDonough County Springfield: Continental, 1885, 277).

Clark, Jones-was a treasurer in Pike County from 1839–43 (History of Pike County [Chicago: Chapman, 1880], 872). He notarized the petitions as a clerk of the circuit court.

Comer, Samuel-acted as a justice of the peace during the years 1839 to 1843 (Grantee Grantor Records, Carthage, IL: Hancock County Courthouse, 1839–43).

Crawford, Thomas-was a justice of the peace in Hancock County during the early 1840s (Grantee Grantor Records, Carthage, IL: Hancock County Courthouse).

Douglas, Joseph-made nine land transactions in Adams County from 1837 to 1841 (Grantee Grantor Index 1, Adams Co., IL.) as a justice of the peace. He performed marriages from 8 Apr 1841 through 25 Aug 1842 (Marriage records vol. 1, Adams Co., IL: 1825–90).

Enlow, Amos-served as a justice of the peace in Adams County, IL, beginning in 1838 (Marriage records vol. 1, Adams Co., IL; Grantee Grantor Records 1840–42, 674).

Jackson, Samuel G.-a justice of the peace, was in Van Buren County, Iowa, from October 1840 until December 1849 (Grantee Grantor Index, Van Buren Co., IA: 1837–52; see also Marriage records, Van Buren Co., IA: 1838–40).

Kilbourn, David W.-was a justice of the peace in Lee County during 1838–44 (HC 4:50, 416–417, 444; see also Grantee Grantor Records, Keokuk, IA: Lee County Courthouse).

Kimball, Hasen-performed two marriages in Hancock County, IL, between 1837 and 1846. Each time he signed as a justice of the peace (Marriage records, Hancock Co., IL: 1836–46).

McGregor, Malcom M.-served as a justice of the peace from 14 March 1839 until his death in Jan 1842 (Grantee Grantor Records, Carthage, Hancock, IL).

Martin, Philip W.-entered fifteen land transactions between 1833 and 1842 (Grantee Grantor Index vol. 1, Adams Co., IL). Acting as a justice of the peace he performed six marriages between 9 Oct 1835 and 8 Sept 1842 (Marriage records, Adams Co., 1825–90).

Monroe, Andrew-was an acting justice of the peace in Hancock County, Illinois, between 1839 and 1842 (Marriage records, Carthage, IL: Hancock County Courthouse, 1839–43).

Morsell, B. K.-was a justice of the peace for District of Columbia, Washington, D. C. as evidenced by his signature on Porter Rockwell’s petition.

Prentis, Daniel-served as justice of the peace for Hancock County, Illinois (see Marriage records).

Randle, John H.-apparently lived in Madison County during the years 1812–40 (Grantee Grantor Records, Madison Co., IL). As a justice of the peace he performed marriages between 21 Sept 1839 and 18 Dec 1845 (Marriage records, Madison Co., IL: 1813–71), but signed petitions as a notary public.

Rew, Horatio G.-settled in Morgan County in 1831. As a justice of the peace he performed twelve marriages from 1 Feb 1839 to 4 Dec 1842 (Grantee Grantor Records, Morgan Co., IL: 1831–42; see also Marriage records vol. 13, Morgan Co., IL: 1837–61).

Richards, Willard-was appointed general Church recorder on 30 July 1843 and had been a member of the Nauvoo City Council since 30 Oct 1841, during which he served as a recorder and minute keeper (HC 4:442; 5:522; Latter-day Saint Biographical Encyclopedia 1:53–56).

Robinson, Ebenezar-was a notary public in Hancock County, Illinois, on 7 July 1843 (Marriage records, Hancock Co., 1840).

Rogers, David R.-made land transactions in Pike County, Illinois from 1837 through 1846 (Grantee Grantor Records, Pike Co., IL). Acting as a justice of the peace, he performed twenty marriages during the years 1837–46 (Marriage records, Pike Co., IL).

Sells, Elijah-was appointed a Petit Juror 3 Apr 1839 (Scott County Bicentennial Book [IL: Bluff and Winchester, 1976], 22). Acting as a justice of the peace, he also performed marriages in Scott County from 1839 to 1841 (Scott County Marriage Record Book, Early Period, 1839–74).

Shafer, Abraham-was a justice of the peace in Clay County (HC 2:454; 3:281) who helped the Mormons while they were in Missouri.

Smith, Abram-was a justice of the peace in Hancock County during the years 1839–43. He died in 1843 (Grantee Grantor Records, Carthage, Hancock Co., IL: 1839–43).
