Press Release:
Examination of Church history in South America during 1960–65 published.
The Religious Studies Center has just released A Land of Promise and Prophecy: Elder A. Theodore Tuttle in South America, 1960–1965 by Mark L. Grover. Though not a biography of Elder Tuttle, the book focuses on his activities in South America during this time. Each mission in South America is discussed in relation to Elder Tuttle’s efforts and some of the issues and concerns of the time.
The period 1960–65 was key to the evolution of the Church because it represented a significant adjustment in approach and direction, particularly from Church headquarters in Salt Lake City. This history focuses on the personalities and programs of the mission presidents and their wives because the changes that occurred during this period were the product of these men and women.
The book will be available for purchase through BYU bookstore and other LDS retailers. The volume will cost $25.95.
